Obituary for Barbara Kesler Taylor

Barbara Kesler Black Taylor passed away in Cypress, Texas, on December 27, 2018, at the age of seventy-eight. Barbara was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and grew up in the Millcreek area. After graduating from Olympus High School, Barbara met and married E. Ray Taylor. They had three children—Ken, Lori, and Heather. After living in Sandy, Utah, for many years, Ray and Barbara, along with Lori and Heather, moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Ray and Barbara resided there until they retired and moved to New Harmony, Utah. After Ray passed away in 2017, Barbara moved to Cypress, Texas, to live with her daughter Heather.

Barbara loved crafting and had a flair for design. She sewed, painted, did floral design, and made delicious candies. She loved camping, shopping, and chocolate ice cream. Barbara enjoyed laughter and games and was always the life of the party. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many Church callings, including Primary presidency counselor, Cub Scout leader, and various callings in the Relief Society. Barbara was known for her beautiful smile and fun personality.

Barbara is survived by her three children: Ken (Anna) (Sandy, Utah), Lori (Boyd) Pace (New Harmony, Utah), and Heather (Greg) Bennion (Cypress, Texas). Barbara is also survived by her three granddaughters: Rachelle Taylor (Salt Lake City, Utah), Megan McDonald (Cypress, Texas), and Jerica Bennion (St. George, Utah), as well as five grandsons: Talon Bennion, Braeden Bennion, and Dakota Bennion (all of St. George, Utah), and Alex McDonald and Mason McDonald (both of Cypress, Texas). Barbara is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Carsten Barrett, Cambrea Barrett, Brynlie Wright, Jaxon Bennion, and Aria Bennion (all of Salt Lake City). Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, E. Ray Taylor, and by her mother, Melba Kesler Black; her father, James M. Black; and her sister, Claudia (Rick) Firmage.
